I first noticed it quietly—small eruptions on my son’s skin.
He has beautiful melanin-rich skin, deep-toned and glowing, but as hormones began to make their presence felt, acne followed. Anyone who has watched a young teenager navigate this phase knows it isn’t just about pimples. It’s about confidence. About staring into the mirror a little too long. About unspoken discomfort.
Back in 2022, that worry turned into work at my soap table.
Why Chocolate Clay and Matcha?
I didn’t wake up one day and decide to “make an acne soap.”
I started by asking a better question: What actually supports skin—especially changing, hormonal skin?
So I created my Chocolate & Matcha Soap, using:
• Matcha green tea
• Chocolate clay
• Hemp seed oil
• Cocoa butter
• Shea butter
Yes, that sounds like a lot—and that’s exactly the point.
Here’s a fact worth stating clearly: no single ingredient works in isolation. If anyone claims one miracle ingredient will fix skin concerns, they’re probably oversimplifying—or selling a myth. Skin responds to synergy, not shortcuts.
Each ingredient plays a role:
• Matcha brings antioxidants that help calm stressed skin
• Chocolate clay gently detoxifies and supports texture
• Hemp seed oil helps balance oil production
• Cocoa butter & shea butter nourish, soften, and protect the skin barrier
Blended together with the same superior oils I use across all my batches, the result was a bar that felt intentional—not aggressive.
What We Noticed (And What We Didn’t Rush)
This wasn’t an overnight miracle.
Not after the first wash. Not even the second.
But slowly, something shifted.
The texture of his skin became more supple.
The angry flare-ups settled.
Scars softened, then began to fade with time.
And quietly—without anyone announcing it—the emotional weight eased too. Watching your child feel less burdened by their reflection is something no ingredient list can fully explain.
Why I Always Keep a Bar Aside
Every time I make this soap, I keep one or two bars aside.
Not for selling. For remembering.
This bar carries a promise it has kept since the very first batch. And yes, this might sound like I’m blowing my own trumpet—but sometimes lived results earn the right to be spoken about.
“Soap on the Face Is Bad”—Let’s Talk About That
One of the biggest myths I hear is that soaps should never be used on the face.
That fear comes from commercial, detergent-heavy soaps that strip the skin, disrupt moisture balance, and leave faces tight and irritated.
Cold process soaps are different.
They are:
• Naturally glycerin-rich
• Made without harsh surfactants
• Created slowly, consciously, and with skin integrity in mind
When made with intention, they cleanse without punishment.
This Bar Is Not About Fixing Skin
It’s about supporting it.
About respecting change—especially during tender years.
About choosing formulations that work with the skin, not against it.
Chocolate & Matcha will always be more than just a soap in my collection.
It’s a reminder that care, when done honestly, can heal more than what we see on the surface.
